Notes: Anagallis tenella is cultivated in gardens. The flowers of Bog Pimpernel open widely only in sunshine. Anagallis tenella is on the Dutch Red List and  Belgium Red List of vascular plants.

Notes: Cephalanthera rubra is a protected species in most European countries and on the European Red List of vascular plants (Least Concern). In the Netherlands it can no longer be found in the wild, the last observation was in the Biesbosch in 1989. Since then, in this country only two plants have been coming into bloom in the botanical garden in Rockanje. In the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain it is also a threatened species with one population of less than a hundred plants in the Sierra de Mecina in the Granada province at an altitude of 1200m. In Andalucía it can also be found in most other provinces: Cádiz, Málaga, Córdoba, Jaén, and Almería. Cephalanthera longifolia is also a threatened species, but more common than Cephalanthera rubra.

Notes: Polygala boissieri was named after the Swiss botanist Pierre Edmond Boissier (1810-1885). In the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain it can be found next to for example Erodium boissieri and wild peonies (Paeonia broteroi and Paeonia coriacea).

Notes: Dictamnus hispanicus has a very fragrant, lemony aroma. This perennial plant secretes volatile oils that may turn the air around it inflamable in hot and still weather. All plant parts of Burning Bush are slightly toxic and may irritate the skin. Dictamnus albus has several geographical variants of which Dictamnus hispanicus in the southwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula is an example. It is a rare species in the different geographical zones where it occurs. Some people collect parts of this plant that can be used as one of the ingredients of anisette. This consitutes a serious threat for this species. Numerous varieties and cultivars have been selected for garden use.
