Notes: In the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain two types of Peony commonly grow together: Paeonia broteroi and Paeonia coriacea. The fruit of Paeonia broteroi is formed in more than two follicles (usually 4 or 5 seed heads) that are densely haired. The leaves of Paeonia broteroi are brighter green and the stems are more red compared to Paeonia coriacea. Lower leaves of Paeonia broteri generally have 17 or more leaflets.
