Notes: The flowers resemble a helmet or a hood. It flourishes around alpine farms and in damp meadows wherever the soil is rich in nitrogen, thanks to livestock. One of the most poisonous plants of Europe and it therefor has names like ´vegetable arsenic´ and ´devil´s root´. It can cause irritation of the skin. In the Netherlands it is a garden plant.
